My journey into couple's therapy came out of my own personal experience and from observing how painfully disconnected couples can become when they find themselves unable to reach each other. The same pattern was seen: two people who genuinely cared for one another, yet feeling completely alone and unseen. They no longer were able to communicate and feel understood, no matter how hard they tried. Most couples lacked tools for healthy communication and deep connection. My therapeutic philosophy is based on the belief that couples don’t fight because they want to hurt each other — they fight because they crave connection but don't know how to achieve it. I help couples understand the emotional and nervous-system patterns driving their conflict, underneath the surface, and lead them to a place of empathy, creating space for repair and healing. My training, continuing education, and professional development keeps me current and more able to provide my clients with an eclectic approach to restoring relationships. Helping couples is rewarding work, especially when partners begin to slow down emotional reactions, learn how to feel safe enough to be honest, build new ways of connecting that don’t lead to the same painful cycle, understand each other’s deeper needs and become invested in meeting them. This work is deeply human and meaningful, and I’m honoured to walk alongside couples as they find their way back to one another.
